Arab Financial Services B.S.C.(c) (AFS) owns and operates BPay, which is a secure, easy-to-use, and fully featured digital wallet accessed through an app. BPay is part of a Kingdom-wide initiative to make Bahrain cashless and supports the Kingdom of Bahrain’s government initiatives to drive digital transformation.
BPay is a digital wallet solution that enables consumers, merchants, and corporations to make and receive their payments in an easy, fast, and secure way via their smartphones instead of cash or card.
Users can use BPay to purchase goods or services, to send and receive money peer-to-peer (P2P), store money for when they need it, store credentials for various payment instruments securely and digitally, remit money (send money internationally), pay bills, use value-added services and more. Add Money: Via Benefit services such as Benefit Payment Gateway and Benefit Pay application. Money will be credited into the AFS issued prepaid card.
Merchant QR Payment: Simple, contactless payment solution through a Merchant QR Code scanned by the customer's BPay app. Source of funds will be the selected prepaid card instrument.
Send Money: Closed-loop person to person (P2P) transfer.
Request Money: Closed-loop person to person (P2P) transfer, wherein the recipient requests money from the sender.
International Remittance: Cross border money transfer services.
International Telco Top-Up: International telco top-up service.
Digital eVouchers: Digital e-vouchers service.
School Payments: In-app school fee payments.

Domestic Bill Payment
With BPay users can enjoy convenient domestic bill payment via the app. The domestic bill payment services will include:
  1. Telco postpaid bill payments – Batelco, STC, Zain
  2. Telco prepaid top-up payments – Batelco, STC, Zain
  3. Government bill payment services such as EWA (water & electricity), traffic payments, university/school payments, and other government bill payment services

There are many features that make BPay unique. It is available to any resident of the Kingdom of Bahrain so long as they are 18 year of age or older, with a valid Bahraini CPR and having an active Bahrain SIM card and smartphone. BPay delivers near-instant payments, and when a BPay transaction is made no personal financial data is transferred. BPay operates in compliance with Central Bank of Bahrain rules.

BPay creates value for individuals:

Go cashless or digital, with one platform for multiple payments, financial insights etc. BPay facilitates digital transactions securely and near-instantly locally and globally, giving BPay users speed, convenience, and transparency when it comes to their payments.

BPay creates value for businesses:

BPay is an added digital payment method, both in stores (and soon online!) The value proposition for merchants is two-fold. Merchants have access to a large base of customers. Data-driven offers and promotions help drive footfalls to the stores. Merchants can also create offers that are showcased in-app or on the dedicated BPay offers page. For customers, this means ready access to relevant store information which helps them make a purchase decision faster and ensures they get better value through offers.

Anyone who is a resident of the Kingdom of Bahrain so long as they are 18 year of age or older, with a valid Bahraini CPR and having an active Bahrain SIM card and smartphone can use BPay. The beauty of BPay is that it is like having cash in your pocket (to spend in Bahrain or internationally). BPay is also perfect for shops and other outlets, reducing cash payments and storage.
For merchants, the merchant app is available by default on all AFS Point of Sale (PoS) terminals so they can start using the BPay merchant app immediately – for efficient, convenient use.

For payment BPay works in many ways like a debit card, with the funds transferred to the payee or recipient immediately. BPay can also be used to store funds and remit them to others. BPay is widely accepted in Bahrain including a range of physical and e-commerce stores.

Consumers can use BPay to:
  • Send/receive money to and from family and friends in Bahrain
  • Add money from your bank account
  • Purchase goods and services via Merchant QR Payment to any of our merchants.
  • Pay bills and top-up telco. accounts for multiple entities in Bahrain including Batelco, STC, Zain, EWA and more.

Yes. Currently maximum single transaction limit is BHD 2,500 and maximum balance limit per individual is BHD 2,500.
This may be revised at AFS’s sole discretion at any time subject to the Central Bank of Bahrain rules.

BPay is very secure. AFS’s operations meet the highest international technology and security standards. The BPay platform managed by AFS protects all transactions to the same extent as those performed by the banks for their customers. However, BPay does not hold or transmit any financial or personal data. We are using a secure payment gateway that ensures security by encrypting data, such as card and bank details provided by the user.
BPay is a safe and secure method to conduct cashless transactions. All transactions are processed through a secured and encrypted link. There are SMS, Email, and in-app notifications for all transactions:

  • No personal information is stored on your device
  • PIN authentication is required to log in to BPay and a confirmation is required for every transaction
  • SSL encryption is used to protect your activity
  • BPay automatically logs out if left idle
Merchants can use BPay to:
  • Accept payments for goods/services rendered
  • Empower their employees to receive payments for delivery services
  • Send/receive money to and from suppliers or business partners
  • Pay salaries to employees

There are competitive rates for select services such as international money transfers or remittance, school fees, etc. Also for international mobile top-up we charge BHD 0.100 + VAT.

Immediately notify us if your smartphone is lost or stolen by calling the BPay call centre on 1729 9717. We will put a hold on your BPay account until you find your smartphone or replace it.

BPay is currently only accepted in Bahrain.

BPay Setup

  1. Download the AFS BPay app from the app store or play store and complete your digital registration within just a few minutes. Just make sure to keep you CPR National ID handy.
  2. Top-up your BPay from the in-app (Add money) icon and enjoy using it.
  3. When you buy something at participating merchants, open BPay, hold your mobile device to the Point of Sale (PoS) terminal and scan QR code to pay.

All existing wallet customers and their wallet balances are automatically migrated to their BPay prepaid card accounts.
  • Each BPay account will be linked to the Bahraini CPR. Accordingly, a single customer can only have a single BPay card account.
  • In case a wallet customer has more than one account, then the customer’s cumulative balance will be migrated to the singular BPay card account. The customer will be notified accordingly.

BPay Registration Flow

Download the AFS BPay app from apple and google stores now (links). All you need is your CPR National ID handy to complete your registration in just a few minutes!
If you are a returning wallet customer, then your balances will be migrated to the new BPay account, as mentioned earlier.

BPay Payments

You can top-up your BPay balance through the Benefit payment gateway using your debit card through the BPay app.

Please send an email to bpaysupport[at]afs.com.bh with your CPR National ID and registered BPay mobile number. Our BPay Support team will contact you on the next steps to cashout your BPay account.

Customer must visit AFS premises to collect the cashout cash amount, OR to have it transferred to their preferred Bahrain bank account. Customer will also need to sign the necessary documents to verify cashout.

The process will take a maximum of 2 working days.

With BPay international remittance / money transfer service, you can send money to India, Pakistan, Egypt, Philippines, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, UK, Malaysia and Nepal.

The currency rate is updated in BPay’s system on a near instant basis. You can see the current rate on BPay while going through the steps for international remittance / money transfer service.

When you press “Send,” the most recent exchange rate will be applied to your remittance.

For most countries, international transfers sent through BPay are carried out near-instantly. Feel free to contact BPay Support to enquire about the expected transfer times by country and corridor.

If the recipient does not receive the funds within a reasonable period, please call the BPay call centre on 1729 9717.

Manage Your BPay Account

Click “Forgot PIN “and verify yourself by providing your CPR and Date of Birth. → an OTP will be sent to your BPay registered mobile number → Enter OTP → You will be asked to input a new 6-digit PIN

Log into your BPay wallet → Click “Change Mobile” → Verify your current mobile and enter your new mobile number → an OTP will be sent to your new BPay mobile number → Enter OTP → Your mobile number will be successfully updated.

You have a maximum of 3 tries before access to your BPay wallet becomes blocked for security reasons.

If you have been locked out:

Phone the BPay call centre on 1729 9717, and we will unblock it for you after verification.

You will be given an OTP, and then you will be able to create a new 6-digit PIN.

You may also send an email to bpaysupport[at]afs.com.bh but only from the email address registered with BPay. The process will take a maximum of 2 working days, and you will receive a response by email.

Absolutely, you can access BPay from anywhere in the world, as long as you have data or Wi-Fi connectivity. You cannot access BPay without an internet connection.

At this moment, BPay QR payments are only accepted in Bahrain. In-app payments can be done from anywhere in the world. Furthermore, the BPay Virtual Card can be used for online eCommerce payments from anywhere in the world.

Your BPay account will be linked to your Bahraini CPR and will have one telephone number that it is associated with, and that is the one on which you will receive your text messages and information.

No, BPay is not linked to your bank account. Registration enables you to open aBPay Virtual Card Account. You will be able to refill the card as you want using your Bahrani debit card. The more funds you load, the more you can use!.

You can top-up your BPay balance through the Benefit payment gateway using your Bahraini debit card through the BPay app.

You can top-up your BPay account using a Bahraini debit card only.

You can make in-store purchases by holding your smartphone and scanning the QR code at accepting merchants. And you can make in-app purchases for all services offered within the BPay application. If the transaction is successful, you will receive a text message confirming your purchase, and an email of your receipt to the email address associated with you BPay account. Make sure your BPay is topped up!

All merchants, in-store and online are listed in the BPay app. You can also make online eCommerce purchases using your BPay Virtual Card for any online merchant in the world!

You can make purchases at any store in Bahrain that accepts BPay – which includes any merchant outlet with the AFS Point of Sale (PoS) terminals. You can also make in-app purchases using your BPay card account for any services offered within the BPay application.

Yes, you can! With the P2P capability, you can send money between any two BPay accounts. You can send money to a family member, a friend, or pay for purchased goods. Once you send the money through BPay, you and the recipient will receive a text message confirming the transaction. And it’s free!

Only one BPay account can be created per person using the Bahraini CPR.
